Topic/Skill: The writing process
Feedback: I taught Hyobin the B.L.O.C.K. plan, which is a straightforward method explaining the writing process. It involves brainstorming, layout, outlining, constructing, and revising. I gave Hyobin some examples using the method, and after that, we worked together to go through the block method using a sample prompt. I gave her feedback throughout our practice on efficient ways to complete each step if I noticed she took too much time on a certain step.
Lessons learned: I learned that having a simple formula can work wonders. Expecting a student to just know how to brainstorm, write a draft, etc., might be too much. It’s better to teach in smaller, digestible steps.
