Tutoring Je-ah - Session 11
Date/Time: Saturday, August 23, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM EST (8:00 AM - 9:00 AM KST)
Location: Google Meet
Location: Google Meet
Topic/Skill: Minimal Pairs/Speaking
Today was our final tutoring session together. We started off discussing her day yesterday. Then, we resumed our discussion of minimal pairs. I had to ask her how far we'd gotten on <s> and <th> sounds, and then we reviewed and moved on from there. It took a while, but she got more comfortable with the sounds, and her speech was noticeably clearer. Then, we moved on to <ar> and <ur>. That pair was a doozy, but she worked through it well. We had to backtrack to <r> and <l> sounds because one example sentence I wrote had the word "rule," and that word was very hard for her.
Towards the end of our time, I also gave her the website that I referenced for our minimal pair practice. Then, I went over the instructions for her email to Prof. Kim confirming our number of tutoring sessions. I also asked her for feedback about our sessions, my teaching, and our lessons. I thanked her for her time and for allowing me to tutor her, and we said goodbye.
