Topic/Skill: Pronouns and Minimal Pairs/Grammar and Speaking
Today, we talked about pronouns and the three different types: subjective, objective, and possessive. I noticed last time we were writing that Je-won was mixing up possessive and subjective pronouns, so we reviewed and practiced these. Then, we did a few more interview questions from our last tutoring session, and he wrote much better.
After we finished the interview questions, we went over minimal pairs. I had him do a short warm-up exercise to get him thinking about English words. Then, I defined minimal pairs, explained their importance, and we practiced a couple pairs until our session was over.
In our warm-up to minimal pairs, he filled out a short list of words for each consonant within 3 minutes. When time was up, I had him read his list aloud. I initially couldn't understand one word for one of the consonants listed. Then, he repeated himself, and I noticed the mix up of sounds. We happened to practice that exact minimal pair second. We will resume practicing minimal pairs in our next and final session.
