Tutoring Je-ah - Session 8

Today, we talked about her day yesterday and reviewed our previous lesson about brainstorming. Then, we resumed our lesson about brainstorming and beauty versus personality.
We started off with a discussion and several discussion questions. I think that helped her get her thoughts more organized than using only the Venn diagram brainstorming method. I gave her a lot of verbal examples to help her answer our discussion questions. Then, I gave her 5 minutes to write, and I checked in on her after those 5 minutes.
She said that writing within that time was hard. I conceded that I should have given her more time, and I gave her 5 more minutes. I also told her just to write and not to worry too much about grammar and spelling because she could edit later. She still revised as she wrote.
After she finished writing, I asked her to read it aloud. I was planning on giving her 5 minutes to edit, but I forgot about that part, and we edited together. After editing, I had her read aloud again, and then I commented on her answers and compared our shared opinions and examples.
I took mental notes of her common speaking errors, and I told her next time, we’ll have an easier prompt to work on for writing speed and that we’d practice some minimal pairs again, specifically R and L sounds.
